You will NOT believe who I met.

Today, my friend and I were studying in the library. We were both completing assignments involving great amounts of text, which stacked up a high mental toll. What is a better solution for this than a little creative outlet?

After watching some YouTube, we got into a discussion about an archived website called Omegle. The video chat roulette site, which has since been taken down for what I presume is a million different nudity, bullying, and age violations, used to be a trend across our youth. My friend never visited the website, as she feared what could be flashed onto her screen (rightfully so, as many users hold no shame in pulling out inappropriate body parts). Recently, there has been an Omegle resurrection. Some of my favorite YouTubers are producing content on the new version of Omegle, called OmeTV. Naturally, we decided to take our spin on OmeTV in the SMU Library.
Within quite possibly only 10 minutes, we stumbled across a young, blonde male slouching in his chair. His camera quality was one of the highest I'd ever seen, which caught my eye. Upon first glance, I noticed this man resembled one of the most prominent YouTubers in the Minecraft community, TommyInnit. My brother has been a fan of their content creator group for years, and as we both love Minecraft, are familiar with the people in the game's creator community. Additionally, my favorite YouTubers Sinjin Drowning, who I mentioned in a previous Letterboxd Friday post, have played on a shared Minecraft server with TommyInnit and his crew called "Dream SMP." There was no shot this was actually TommyInnit.
His face was slightly covered, as he looked like this website was the last place on earth this man wanted to be. Because I am dumb and thought this experience on OmeTV was hilarious and there would be NO POSSIBLE way a Youtuber of 15 million followers and such great social impact would EVER be on this app, I had the audacity to say "Hey, aren't you that famous Youtuber?" Barely a second later, he lifted his head up, holding the same defeated expression. At that moment, it was TommyInnit, confirmed. And in all his glory, he skipped me.
I have never felt so defeated in my LIFE.
I immediately screamed at my friend in this library, her hushing me instantly. I told her who it was, but as you can guess, she did not care. I SCRAMBLED to find any piece of proof to show my friends who do know about this man. I found out quickly if you press "Report" you can see a small snippet of who you just talked to. This grainy, small square of a screenshot is now my only claim to fame.

And for those who don't believe me whatsoever, I found proof that this was in fact, TommyInnit.

I quite literally prayed I'd find him in a completely different setup to prove me wrong, but alas, everything, to the shelf behind him and the mic he used, was the same.
So, TommyInnit skipped me on OmeTV because I called him out for being a famous YouTuber.
Moral of the story, NEVER shout "Are you famous" at a famous person if you really want to talk to them.
If you liked this story, I will happily share some more silly memories of mine! Leave a comment who your favorite YouTubers are, maybe I can find them on OmeTV.
