It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles Green Shaw was always one of my favorite books as a kid.

It taught my brother and I from a young age to make sense of what was in front of us, even if the conclusion we drew wasn’t actually a real one. The imagination is a beautiful paintbrush.

Today in class, I spilled my drink. I didn’t mean to. My first thought was how could I possibly get to my car without looking like a fool.

However, I know how to make the most out of spilt milk, I remind myself.

If anything, my bag looks like an art piece now. I see an orca, diving back into the Arctic waters, with the distant view of a glacial peak.

I see a lighthouse on a cliff, overlooking ferocious seas.

Look a little harder and you can see a penguin looming to smell a distant fish.

Give in to your childish creativity today and stare at some spilt milk

Xoxo,

Ruby
