I love kid shows. I love Baby Sensory Videos. I love silly little kid games. Do you think I'm weird?
Last night, I was studying for a test in this class! I needed some background noise, so I scrolled on YouTube. In the end, Baby Einstein became my choice for background entertainment. Visually, I was ready. Physically, I grabbed my tangle fidget toy for stimulation. Ready now.
I call myself a "sensory baby" because I love things that overstimulate me in simple, mindless ways. Kid shows are so good at this, especially ones like Baby Einstein!
Kid games are just as powerful. Disney's 2003 Toontown Online is still a game I gravitate towards. Some other honorable mentions are Webkinz and Roblox.
I don't often like to admit this creative outlet due to the reactions it could generate. However, I did some research last night and apparently, this is a very real stress reliever and escapism technique. While I thought I was the only weirdo who reverts in age, apparently 24% of those aged 18-29 watch children's shows!
And there are a great deal of people trying to break the stigmatism around watching children's shows. I've never felt so seen!
So to break the stigma in my own way, here are some of my favorite shows.
Warner Bros.'s "Tom and Jerry"
Cartoon Network's "Total Drama Island"
"Scooby-Doo" (the original, of course)
"The Garfield Show"
Nickelodeon's "Victorious"
So next time I put on Tom and Jerry, I am saying it PROUD! Let me know what shows you like, too!
