Halloween is my absolute most favorite holiday! As the movie lover I am, Halloween lets me live like my favorite on-screen characters for a day. On top of it, I always find people to chat about my niche obsessions by sparking conversations of our costumes. It is a holiday where your personality is presented in your attire, and creativity is all around in the form of spooky pumpkins and haunted houses.

First Concept: Beauty School Dropout

"No graduation date, for you." "Beauty School Dropout" is a musical theatre song from the 1978 film "Grease," featuring the famous singer of the time, Frankie Avalon.

I have a soft spot for musicals if you haven't caught on yet. Grease in particular is one of my Mom's all-time favorite musicals/films. In the words of Rachelle, the silly, unrealistic romance between Sandy and Danny and the dated fashion make the film. This movie has been a bonding piece for my Mother and me in recent years, and I couldn't help but consider it for this year's Halloween costume.

My idea--be one of the chorus girls in the "Beauty School Dropout" scene. The plan is to dress in all silver and throw some silver curlers in my hair, keeping it chic and stylish. I want a babydoll-style dress or top, and came across the perfect silver sequin top at the thrift store! It was meant to be! I just need rollers and some metallic bottoms.

Scroll through the gallery to get a gist of how to be a Beauty School Dropout, featuring hand-picked pieces, styling suggestions, and hair-do's. You could also add the twist of being Frenchie, and style an adorable pink wig!

Second Concept: I must save Toby!

Jennifer Connelly's character stunts a gorgeous vintage puff-sleeve gown with ornate metallic hair pieces in the ballroom scene of the 1986 film "The Labyrinth." In this scene, she waltzes with David Bowie's character "The Golbin King" in a confusing, dream-like interaction.

When I have brought this idea up, people make fun of me. "Who is going to get that?" "Has anyone even seen that movie?" "Why not just be David Bowie?" It is so controversial for no reason. I think that makes me want to do it all the more!

I have fantasized about this costume for a while, as I have the similar features and hair color to make this happen! I plan to thrift and create this entire costume (which I do for most), as the dress is intricate in a way vintage fashion can only compare.

Once again, I have assembled a gallery so you too can be Sara Williams from The Labyrinth (1986). Shoutout to Jim Henson, you know how to make niche puppet movies like no OTHER.

More ideas to come! If you would like me to execute your costume idea, let's brainstorm together.
